Reena Duthie

Me, Reena Duthie, a self taught artist , born and brought up in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, a state in the southern most tip of India. Completed my graduation (1985-1988) from College for Women, Trivandrum. Now I live in an age old British bunglow with my hubby, among the misty mountains of Nelliampathy, surrounded by the dense reserve forest of Parambikulam wild life sanctuary.

Critics call me a feminist. Many of my paintings depicts the expressions of the feeling of hapless women, the discrimination in our society. My favorite medium is Oil on canvas. Wax carving, Glass painting , Sketching and Water colours are the other works.

Press Clippings

"An arm there, a leg here, another arm juxtaposed just over there. No prices for guessing that this painting is titled Confusion. Even without the title the average art buff would have made out what was on the mind of the artist. Especially, effective in this painting is the positioning of the eyes diagonally on top of each other. That, is nothing else does, clearly conveys the Confusion theme to the viewer."
